10 reasons why my dog barks to be let out

Monty The LurcherMonty, our ageing dog just has to bark to be let out. Here are his top reasons why….

Because

  1. I’m emptying the washing machine.
  2. I’m carrying the laundry basket.
  3. I’ve walked into the kitchen.
  4. I’ve walked out of the kitchen.
  5. The telephone rang.
  6. I’ve walked past the back door.
  7. He *thinks* he’s heard a small furry animal scurry pass (please note he’s not bothered by anything else such as stranger wheedling an axe).
  8. I’ve just shut the back door (typically after it’s been open all day).
  9. Someone’s knocked at the front door.
  10. Just because…..

Does your dog have any particular reason why he has to go out?

Comments

  1. Gilbert has to be let out to express his joy and approval of children whizzing past on scooters. Then there is sharing a barking session with same children, who bark at him on their way home from school. Which proves that all dogs should live with children rather than with a middle aged couple, as ours does.

  2. Joanne says:

Ah bless. Gilbert sounds lovely. If Monty has to wait at the level crossing he will bark furiously at the train when it comes past. We have been known to bark along with him if we’ve been waiting a very long time.
